INTRODUCING

The basic bartending class

Free!

I’m so glad you’re checking out my totally free Basic Bartending Course!

The Advanced Class for Bartenders is not quite ready yet. It has taken me quite awhile to get it just right – so utilize this free course in the meantime!

My Basic Bartending Course is 100% free with absolutely NO obligations or requirements! Go through the course at your own pace!

You can access the link to the Free Bartending Course all over the place: In the menu at the very top of every page, in the right sidebar on almost every post page or right here:

Basic Bartending Course

Don’t be fooled! Because my Advanced Bartending Course is not yet available, I have included many of those lessons here in the Free Basic Course.

What that means is, the Free Course, at this time, is more of a “hybrid” course. It contains many of the advanced lessons from the paid course. I’ll always offer a free bartending course, but down the road, I’ll be subtracting many of the current lessons – SO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS FREE COURSE NOW!

And, by the way, I don’t collect emails. I don’t require you to “Register.” You don’t need a user name or password. Nope – none of that funny business.

Why am I offering this Free Bartending Course? I’m hoping that you’ll go through the course (or parts of it), figure out that I really know what I’m talking about, and then purchase my Advanced Bartending Course when it’s ready – which is soon. That’s it.

THE Hard Skills

Pouring Liquor, the Alcohols, Beer, and Wine. Glassware, Garnishes, and Mixers. And, of course, Cocktail Recipes.

Bartender vs. Customer

As a bartender, you’re going to see a lot of really crazy things. And, unfortunately, some “problem” customers. A lot of common scenarios here – and I’ll provide you with solutions.

Job Preparation

You gotta be ready for that interview. Organizational help here, and my “Quick Start” list will get you up and running – fast.

All About Liquor

Knowing the types and brands of liquor is just as important as cocktail recipes. Maybe even more so. Pricing structure, liquor cost, and more.

House Policies

There’s 21 lessons in the Basic Course on House Policies alone. Drinking on the job, free drinks, tip pools, theft, cutting people off. And a whole lot more.

Banquet Bartending

A much underappreciated way of writing your own ticket in the Bartending World. Landing your first bartending gig is much easier by applying at good hotels.

Cocktail Recipes

You don’t have to know hundreds – or thousand’s of drink recipes. Just the basics will do for job interview purposes. I’m going to hook you up here.

Meet Mark

I’ve been in the Food & Beverage Industry for over 25 years. Bartending, Bar Manager, General Manager, Food Server, Banquet Bartender – you name it.

I have worked in Dive Bars, Nightclubs, Corporate Theme Restaurants & Bars, Mom and Pop Bars, and more. Hotels provided some of the best bartending jobs ever in their Banquet Departments.

I’ve hired and fired more bartenders than I can remember. I’ve worked with some of the very best bartenders in the industry – and some of the worst. I KNOW what Bar Managers are looking for.

Check out my Resume. Then, read Mark’s Story. You decide if I’m qualified to teach you how to be a Bartender – and land that first Bartending job!

Bartender School Online
THE MASTER BARTENDING CLASS HAS 20 SECTIONS

BELOW ARE THE 6 MOST IMPORTANT SECTIONS OF THE COURSE

BY CLICKING ON THE “LEARN MORE” LINKS IN THE BELOW SECTION, YOU WILL BE TAKEN TO ONE OF THE ACTUAL LESSONS IN THAT PARTICULAR SECTION.

HARD SKILLS

What every bartending school teaches – but I go into much more detail. No fluff here. How to pour liquor, tools & equipment, glassware, mixers, garnishes, etc. I’ve got you covered. More than just basics – you’ll have the confidence to dominate an interview.

SOFT SKILLS

What every bar manager is looking for. Personality, problem solving, flexibility, and more. Bust most important? Likeability and Trustworthiness. These skills are highly coveted across all industries – not just the Food & Beverage Industry. Soft Skills are what will land you that first job!

ALL ABOUT LIQUOR

I’ll teach you everything you need to know about liquor, beer, and wine. Well, not everything. Basic knowledge is all you need to land that first bartending job. Knowing the types/brands of liquor is just as important as knowing those basic 60 drink recipes.

JOB PREPARATION

Taking action is the key. Organizing your plan of attack is simple if you follow my suggestions. Resumes, cover letters, and more. My action plan will blow you away. Easy to follow and VERY effective. Believe me – I’ve been there. Through experience, I have developed a plan that will greatly increase your chances of getting hired in a minimal amount of time.

THE INTERVIEW

This is where it’s at. I’ve hired a multitude of bartenders (and all other bar and restaurant staff), throughout the years. I’ll supply you with the most frequently asked questions in the bartender interview – and provide you with the most effective answers. It all comes down to that 10 minute interview with the bar manager. You get one chance – be prepared and don’t blow it!

COCKTAIL RECIPES

Yep. Gotta have these in the course. Surprisingly, you don’t need to know a whole lot – and I’ll provide you with the essentials. Knowing drink recipes is only 10% of the job – so don’t stress! Believe me, around 60 is all you need. Don’t listen to those people who insist that you need to know hundred’s of cocktail recipes! I’m going to hook you up with all you’ll need.

HERE’S 6 MORE SECTIONS OF THE COURSE

BY CLICKING ON THE “LEARN MORE” LINKS IN THE BELOW SECTION, YOU WILL BE TAKEN TO ONE OF THE ACTUAL LESSONS IN THAT PARTICULAR SECTION.

BAR HOUSE POLICIES

Free drinks, tipping, drinking on the job, unruly customers, theft, short/long pouring, and much more. All bars have policies on these situations. Know them or risk getting fired – no joke. Many of the decisions you’re going to make behind the bar are tricky. I’ll hook you up.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Customer service is simply a TOOL that bartenders use to create a great CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. I’ll teach you the difference. Suggestive selling, handling unruly customers, and more. Increase your tips, get a raise, and keep the bar owner happy.

BANQUET BARTENDING

Other than currently working in a restaurant/bar in a different position, Banquet Bartending is the best way to break into the business. My highest tip nights were achieved working in a high-end hotel as a Banquet Bartender. Fun stuff, and please don’t skip this section!

BARTENDER vs. CUSTOMER

My very favorite section of the course, and I really enjoyed putting it together. Customers can be a pain in the butt sometimes. When it comes to serving alcohol – the customer is NOT always right! I’ll supply you with tons of scenarios, and problem-solving solutions to all of them. Some really hilarious (and ridiculous) stuff here, and I want you to piggyback on my experience.

BAR OPERATIONS

Why is my bar manager all over me about liquor cost? Inventory, bar ambiance, vendors, and more. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes that aspiring bartenders have no idea about. Human resources is huge. The bar owners responsibilities vs. the bartenders. This section is for those of you that have some restaurant and/or bar experience – and the very new to the business.

1ST 30 DAYS ON THE JOB

I’ve seen more brand-new bartenders lose their job within their first 30 days than you can imagine. Even some that I initially hired. Don’t fall into the many traps waiting for you out there in the real world of bartending. I’ll hook you up with the knowledge to navigate any situation and keep your newly acquired job safe. Also, many tips and tricks to “level up” and land that future dream job.

Popular Questions

Below are some answers to the most commonly asked questions I receive

Take a look at My Resume as well as my detailed Bartending Career in Mark’s Story. You make the call. You won’t even get through the first section of the course, the Introduction, before realizing that I’m the real deal.

My experience, for one. And, you won’t find a more detailed online bartending course out there. It’s all about landing that first bartending job – and that’s what I focus on. Once you get a few months of experience, the sky’s the limit.

My paid course is an “Advanced Bartending COURSE.” Not skills. Of course, I teach you the basic skills – just like every other bartending course out there does. What makes my course different is that in addition to teaching what other courses do – I really focus on you getting your very first bartending job. HOWEVER! Let me be very clear here. No one can teach you “Advanced Bartending Skills.” There’s no such thing. Advanced bartending skills are acquired on the job. It’s all about experience behind the bar dealing with real-world situations. Period. Sure, you could take in-person classes on speed or flair bartending – but that’s not what 95% of us bartenders do out there. It’s all about “soft skills,” and I go into great detail on this subject in the course.

I’ll tell you the same thing that any bartender out there will tell you: It depends totally on the kind of bar you’re working at. A busy bar can net you hundreds of dollars per shift. My best shift was $1100 – on a New Years Eve.

Yep.

Haha – good one! Of course. I give you 30 days to decide. No questions asked. No hassles.

Most don’t. I go over this subject in great detail in the Bartending Course. It comes down to three things: Do you want to drink? Is it legal? Is it OK with the bar owner? It’s that simple. There is nothing wrong with “not drinking.”

Of course not. I will, however, provide you with the instruction and tools that will greatly increase your chances of landing your first bartending job – fast.

Nope. Times are changing. I went from hiring only experienced bartenders to actually looking closer at totally inexperienced applicants. It’s all about “soft skills” and that 15 minute interview these days, which I cover in the course.

Yep. I go over this and the preceding two questions in great detail in the course.
